I want to do a manual conversion on my maverick. Has anybody else done one? i got my hands on a 3 speed from my shop today for free :) I also want to do a floor shifter too. So right now all i need to get is linkage and a shifter through the floor and get a clutch pedal set up. I figure it wont be that hard to do. Also, was the clutch hydrolic or line activated? Anybody who has some insight on this would be greatly appreciated.

The hardest part will be finding all the parts if you are wanting to go with original stuff.

Finding a z bar and clutch pedal assembly looks like is going to be a challenge...lucky there is a old ford junkyard so ill see if I can find the parts there:)

I still have the original pedal frame that bolts to the firewall and under the dash from when my car was an automatic - I just got the standard pedals, hardware and all of the spacers and everything fits in place of the automatic brake pedal :)

Sick! So then if I find a Manual maverick all I need to steal is just the clutch/break pedal and hardware that mounts to the frame? So then what about the z bar? I read through the thread and I still want to clarify, 6cyl z bars don't work with 8cyl? So I have to find a mustang z bar and do some mods to it?

I'm going hydraulic with a Tilton clutch master cylinder and a CNC pull type slave cylinder but I do know for sure that the 6 cylinder Z bar is different than the one used on a V8 :)

No V8 was sold in a 69.5/1970 - from 71 and later both the V8 or 6 could be ordered with a standard transmission but it was a 3 speed, shifted either on the column or the floor - no 4 speeds were ever offered in the Maverick

Not all pedals and supports are designed the same. The 74-up is different and early pedals won't swap
