I'm going to switch my '75 from power steering to manual. I've seen mixed reviews on adapters. Some say they got loose steering and others say they worked great.

Are the bolt-on adapters better than the ones that go in the existing control valve?

Are the adapters worth the money or should I spring for a manual set-up?

Just me, but if you're gonna do it, do it right and replace the centerlink and pitman arm to manual

    well

no real reason except i dont have a box and i spent all my money on a new motor and still dont hove the tranny to support it.
if i could find one on the cheap that would be great since my engine bay is empty it be a cake walk but basicaly i dont want to spend another hundred or so if i dont have to.

The power box can be used, but remember that it's a different ratio. I have a '77 that was converted from power to manual by using the manual center link and it's faster, but STIFF. It's a 250 with aluminum wheels and 195/75 14s on the front. I'm not telling you not to use the power box, just that it will be stiff in low speed situations. I converted my '73 to manual from p/s (a complete conversion from box down) and I can steer it easily with one hand, but it has skinnies on the front too.
