Sorta. By power box I'm guessing you mean pump. You do all that but you should also replace the power valve assembly with one of those manual adapters available from any Mustang supply house. Its the part that bolts to the pitman arm. If the water pump is driven off the same belt as the power steering pump, you will need a different pully set up because of the pump being gone.

I removed my alternator bracket and bolted the alt directly to the head using the spacer for the alt bracket. Lines up perfectly, same as the late sixties Mustangs, Fairlanes, etc...

Oh, tell me it isn't that easy and I've been wasting all this time looking for pulleys for nothing.

Well that's certainly the easiest time to play with accessory alignment. :) If I had a spare timing cover I'd have been messing with this long ago.

I did mine today, pulleys lined right up, I bought a after market adjustment bracket hooked it to the water pump and since it was a flat bracket it worked well
the original bracket has a offset and will not work with this change. But its workin fine and my engine bay has room now....

mybad Matt, lol its a Spectre brand part number 42263. It will be a bit long so measure it the same length as the old bracket and cut it. Then drill a 7/16 hole in the end and bolt it up...oh by the way it was $11.95 at auto zone...

Pictures of this? So this isn't a actual alternator bracket, just something universal you have to drilll your own holes in?

Pretty sure it's the top bracket that goes from the water pump to the 7/16 bolt holding the pump to the head.

Nope the top bracket isn't used. the alt bolts right to the far bolt hole near the exhaust manifold on front of head. the bracket I am talkin about looks like a old chevy bracket, its chrome, flat, and curved, old hot rod style...but it works very well. very sturdy...I like it...

That was my second guess! :biglaugh: I think you can actually re-use the old lower bracket, and just bolt it in front of the alt instead of the back of it. Looks like it would work anyway.
