Manual trans ID help needed...

    need help to ID this manual trans....

    I have found very little info on this trans...any help would be great..:hmmm:

    this is a pic of the top gearset...to me it looks like that it has too many gears to be a 3 speed OD...I dont have the shifter to run the pattern...:huh:

    I see 4-foward gears and a reverse gear

    is this the T 176? I was told this was a 5speed...I got it for free so the expense is little...which gears are the forward gears...forgive my lack of knowledge..

    OK....I was able to run thru the gears....4 forward one reverse....I know very little about manual trannys...is this a good trans....can it be used behind a v8? what would it have been in? is it like the manual version of a c4?I have a 4:10 gears set in the stallion now..have a 3:89 gear set on the shelf...lots of questions I know...have been searching the net...not a lot of info out there...looking to you folks for help...

    Does the other side look like this? If so it's a Srod 4-speed. The T176 shifter is part of the top cover.

    That was a good read...the tranny would behind a mild..very mild 302...read good things and bad...would like to know the gear ratio's though....

    Thats a SROD from a 82 Mustang. Gear ratios are 1st:3.07 2nd:1.72 4th:.70 and reverse:3.07. 3rd is of course 1:1.
