hmmm, no engine picture so who knows if it is even a boss 302 or standard 302 at this time. they did not make any from the factory, but ive heard of at least two that had one swapped in.

Some of the original options on the mavericks can get a little confusing at times as to which were which cars but on this forumn if you asked all of us we would all agree that there were never any Boss 302 Mavericks ever built by Ford. But we have noticed that alot of people seem to mistake the 302 for the Boss 302 the main difference would be in the valve covers the Boss 302 used 351 Cleveland valve covers.

Nope...that is not a Boss 302 engine, and that car did not come with a Boss 302 engine. As stated above, Ford did not make a Boss 302 Maverick...and the Boss 302 was only available in 1969 and 1970. :)

Not to mention that the valve covers have 6 bolts in them and a clevland style head has 8. One other thing is the fact that the 302 boss came before the 351C. So in fact the 351C engines stole the head design from the 302 Boss engines. (Just a tidbit of info to stick away in your Ford fact memory bank)

Boss or no Boss, it's still one worthy car to own.(y) If I had the money I'd buy it.

    Good luck with it.:)

I'm pretty sure there were at least 2 Mavericks converted to Boss power back when the first V8 cars made the scene. I have copies of articles on these swaps somewhere. I will try to find them and post them as jpegs a.s.a.p. (which may be a day or two from now). If memory serves me right, Hot Rod and possibly Popular Hotrodding were involved in these swaps, and maybe Fomoco too, at least in one of them. In any case, best to check the record. Will work on posting those articles soon. John B

Yea, but the fact is, no Maverick ever rolled off the assembly line brand new with a Boss 302 engine. 99.9999% of the ones people claim are Bosses are just normal 302's.

One of these days I'm going to build a Boss 302 Maverick just for the heck of saying I have one. We have a couple of the engines and they really aren't THAT expensive considering what a big deal people make of them. My real dream is a Boss 429 Maverick, all stock appearing.

It's easier said than done from the money stand point. The engine is the hard part. But after that, all you need is:
    70 Stang front frame rails
    Repop B429 Shock towers
    B429 tower braces
A set of stock looking steel rims for the front that have about 4.5" back spacing.

    Done.
Boss 429 Maverick, one off factory experimental (y)

Jamie, is your grandfather gonna sell the 429 car or is he gonna try to fix it? If it's for sale, I might be interested.

He wants to sell it. I "think" he wants like $70,000 for it... It is an all original numbers matching car. Just burned to hell.
