    Hi Everyone

I would like to introduce myself, My Name is Phil Waller and I have recently purchased a 71 Maverick Grabber for Ebay. I saw the car and just had to have it. Its currently in a poor state but nothing I cant handle with a bit of blood, sweat and tears. I own a vehicle repair shop mainly dealing with restoration www.bmgbuk.com and over the years have fixed up some real rare classics.

If anyone could give me some information on parts suppliers in the US I would be very gratefull. The car is in need of front floor pans, Front fenders and rear 1/4 panel wheel arch repair section (if available)

I dont know how many of these cars are in the UK but I have different plans for this car, I plan to build it to FIA racing spec and compete with various classic racing clubs here in the UK.

I look forward to speaking with you.

    Best regards

    Phil

Welcome Phil !!! Congrats on your 1971 Grabber!

You have come to the right place. This forum is filled with experts on the classic Ford Mavericks and Comets. Dont be afraid to ask questions.

There are other members on here that have shipped parts overseas, for awesome restorations.

Several of us on this side of the pond, have even recieved help and advice from member Tody, who is in Germany, and has done an amazing job on his restoration. Tody has done one of the most challanging restorations in my opinion, with most every supplier and support based in North America. Definately has my respect, and many others. He has shipped large parts overseas.

The search function will help you find alot of information too, but you might have to sift through alot of redundant and conflicting information....so don't be afraid to ask questions for the latest opinions.

The list of suppliers is HUGE. Everything from used and NOS (New Old Stock) on ebay, to Reproduction parts, to specialty suppliers for most everything, but not every single part. It's best to ask "Supplier" questions based on the particular part.

The more you get involved, the more you will see the best place to post certain questions, whether it be buying parts in the "Parts Wanted sub-forum, Technical questions, or wide-interest general questions. You will also see that other members, in the project sub-forum, have repaired and replaced the areas you talked about on your car.

    Good luck! :)

Welcome to the board, Phil. I think Roger covered most of it. The biggest supplier here for Maverick parts is Autokrafters. They have lots of the smaller parts and have an online catalog. Most sheetmetal such as floorboards and fenders have to be found used. Try the search function on here when you have something specific and all the past discussions will show up.:Welcome:

    Thanks

    Hi

Thanks for you posts, Im really looking forward to getting my Maverick done and I hope it will be the only one circuit racing in the UK. No doubt I will be asking question and I will update pictures as I go.

As for the drive train I will be using the 302 but will change the gearbox to a manual 4 speed (subject to finding the right one) There are certain rules I have to stick to but there are lots I dont so I am aiming to get as much bhp/torque as possible within the rules.

Europe meet sound like a plan, I do intend to race at Spa in the future, Ideal place for a meet? I also visit Germany quite often as my partner and I breed Arbain horses. Only last week I was in Aachen for the finals.

    Cheers

    Phil

the car looks like a good place to start. please keep us updated with the progress.

if there's any parts you need, don't hesitate to contact me - either if i have them or how i hunted them down!

spa sounds great, i'll be there myself for sure next year. a friend of mine (lives in aachen, what a coincidence) builds race cars. he has also built my engine (347).

his current projects include a 68 T/A mustang, where he has to stay inside the racing regulations as well. he uses a 302 boss block with RHS cast iron heads. claims to be good for 450hp. have a look here: http://www.americanmuscleservice.com/transam.htm
