I posted earlier about raising the rear of my car because of the look I want. Maybe someone can give me some meassurements and it will tell if the rear is low or not. When I put a tape from the ground to the fender lip at the center of the axles the front and back are both at 26 1/2 inches. Is it supposed to be like this or should the back be a little higher ? This is my question. I have the same tires front and rear so that isn't affecting it. If I had manuals it might show in there if they are the same. Thanks Rick
Dave Thank you, that 1 inch higher in the rear is what I'm going for. I put on 4 new shocks and it seems to have riaised the front to being level and I want a raked look. wish there was a quick way to get an inch ( said that before )
How about lowering blocks put on the bottom of ther springs? http://www.autozone.com/autozone/ca...ering+block+kit&brandName=Superior+Automotive
Bob GREAT idea I'm on my way to autozone after diner. I let everyone know what I find, Thanks again. Rick
Cutting the front springs is the easiest way. Or for the getto "Old school" we use to use a cutting torch to warm them up, and they would settle...
Im confused, how would this raise the rear of the car? Our leaf springs hang under the 3rd member. Putting blocks between the perches and springs would lower the rear body.
I would think your options are: Lower the front by heating springs 16suspect), using coil compressors (again, :16suspect), cutting half a coil or using shorter tires. OR Raising the rear by installing helper springs, using longer shackles or using taller tires.
Well I pulled the springs, had them re-arced and they added a leaf. Raised the rear 2 inches, so all is well. Thanks for the info. Now I need disc brakes on the front, hope I can find a kit for 4 lug so I don't have to change wheels ?
