I recently bumped into a situation in which an owner had parked two 67 Mustangs in his garage for almost 3 decades. I couldn't believe the condition they were in, so I bought both of them and I am bringing them back to working order. What does this have to do with Mavericks, you say? Well, the same guy showed me a silver/black Maverick. I wasn't paying that much attention, but I did notice that it is a Stallion, and he said it was original. This guy had a network of garages in his back yard, and the Stallion was stuffed into the back of one. The lighting wasn't good, and it looked very dirty, but I didn't notice any rust. I just glanced at it though. My question is what is a Stallion worth, if it is in original condition, matching numbers, and just needs to have the engine worked over a little to get it running again? I met the seller at the title office yesterday to get my Mustangs transferred, and he told me the Maverick hadn't sold. He is asking $2,000. Should I be interested? Does it depend on which engine it has...he said it was the V8. I'm lost, I have no idea what rare Mavericks are worth.
Depends on the actual condition but it sounds like a killer deal. I'd be all over it. If you don't get it please let us know. Lots of guys on here that would like to get a Stallion.
I am going to go see it this coming week and I'll take some pics. Thanks for your comments. It appears this may be a good find but I will let you experts tell me that after a review of the evidence.
I would consider a Stallion a "somewhat rare" Maverick. Maybe even "rare". But....do I consider a "somewhat rare" or "rare" Maverick worth considerable MORE than a regular Maverick? Not really. Let's take two Mavericks. Both a bone stock 1976 2-door. Both with V-8's, Factory AC, buckets and all the desireable Maverick options. Both desireable color combinations. One is a Stallion....and one is a regular Maverick. I would say there might be $1000 difference, at the most, between the two in my opinion. What makes a Maverick valuable? First and foremost....it has to be 100% rust free. Outside of that...anything else can be fixed and/or changed.
Very true, and as we have stated many times before on here...a car is only worth as much as a buyer is willing to pay. If nobody wants it, what is it worth?
I believe the Stallion is a rare car and should be considered worth more money than a standard '76 Maverick in similar condition. They were only built one year. The stallion package was an extra cost option. I don't believe many were built. Back in the day, I don't remember seeing to many of them. We were not to crazy about the mostly flat black paint job. I would like to have one today. I think it would be a good investment especially a V8 with bucket seats and floor shifter in red/black! Of topic a little: My dentist bought a '72 Mustang sprint new and drove it every day until it was well ware out. I admired that car every time I went to the dentist. It seems you can find a sprint Mustang, Pinto, Maverick out there today but almost never see a Maverick Stallion.
It's only worth what someone will pay, and as we know, people won't pay for Mavericks. Stallions are somewhat rare, there are a few of them around, same with Sprints, I think we have more of them on this board these days than ever before. 2 grand, for a solid Maverick, is a deal no matter what model it is (unless it's a 4 door) 76 & 77 Mavericks are probably the most sedate of them all, 77 didn't even have emblems stating what it was...some of the earlier cars were pretty wild with the colors they came in.
Look like a good deal, but without pictures it's hard to tell. When you will have pictures, show them to us
The Stallion, like the Sprint, was a one year only edition and a very special car. Of all the big bumper cars, Stallions are my favorites. My favorite color combination are the silver/black ones. If the car is in decent shape, it would be a great deal. If I didn't have too many already, I would love to buy it. Jim
Thanks for all the comments everyone. I will get some pictures of it and post them if he hasn't already sold it.
I thought I've read her many times that the Stallion didnt come with a V-8 but I know we would all take one with any or no engine.
Rare also depends on color. Daves car is the only green with white strip grabber ive seen and Maverick maniacs grabber is a tan with black strips car. Not that it matters in this thread.
