    Mavericks were used a lot as modified stock cars.

    That one looks like it was built well. It probably needed the wing.

    I saw a Maverick stock car at a local dirt track in 1980. The car must have been a handful because it left the track backwards three times. Didn't return after the third. This track was near Crystal River and I don't think it had guard rails, just a big berm around the outside of the track. Our cars are so nose-heavy, because they are so light overall, but still have all the regular car stuff up front. They are short too, so that combo makes them easy to spin.
