Just returned from a trip to Mexico, checked out several mavericks in salvage yards there. Every one I came across was a V-8 except for one, all were stick cars except for two. Wish I had the time to remove all the frame brackets and Z-bars. I did bring back one Z-bar and linkage for myself, the best $15.00 I ever spent. Interesting thing was the mexican cars had seat fabric close to a crushed velvet 80's style material and no heater cores.
Come on, we're talking about Mexico, it's Mavapalooza in every junkyard. BTW, did you check the transmissions, at least one of those stick mavs had a 4 speed.
you sure? I checked the specs of the mav on my owner's manual and the gear ratios were the same as the wide ratio top loaders. TREMEC was a mexican manufacturer that exported the toploaders to the U.S., I think it was cheaper to Ford of Mexico to use national made parts and cheaper to Ford from U.S. to get mexican made (low cost) transmissions.
How hard is it to bring parts back across? I mean like hoods, doors, V-8 stuff....would there be any hassle?
