Just returned from a trip to Mexico, checked out several mavericks in salvage yards there. Every one I came across was a V-8 except for one, all were stick cars except for two. Wish I had the time to remove all the frame brackets and Z-bars. I did bring back one Z-bar and linkage for myself, the best $15.00 I ever spent.
Interesting thing was the mexican cars had seat fabric close to a crushed
velvet 80's style material and no heater cores.:drive:

Come on, we're talking about Mexico, it's Mavapalooza in every junkyard.

BTW, did you check the transmissions, at least one of those stick mavs had a 4 speed.

Those with 4 speeds are not toploaders.

you sure? I checked the specs of the mav on my owner's manual and the gear ratios were the same as the wide ratio top loaders. :hmmm:

TREMEC was a mexican manufacturer that exported the toploaders to the U.S., I think it was cheaper to Ford of Mexico to use national made parts and cheaper to Ford from U.S. to get mexican made (low cost) transmissions. :yup:

How hard is it to bring parts back across? I mean like hoods, doors, V-8 stuff....would there be any hassle?
