We found a 73 Grabber. The man said he does not have a title for it. Any ideas how to go about getting a title ?

    Thanks for the help

    ?

I guess it depends on where your located but here in Ga. you dont need a title for a vehicle older than 1985 ... But in the case of my bike which is an 88 model i had to have the insurance company work up a title bond,Then i had to have the police fill out forms saying the bike's vin number wasn't altered and the bike was not stolen. They issued me a title and i have to keep the title bond for 6 years,If after 6 years no one claims a lein on the bike then i can remove the title bond...

Run the VIN number with the DMV and see when it was last registered and who the last owner was (assuming that the guy who has the car is not the legal owner of the car). Then try and locate them and see if they have the title or they can get a duplicate title if it was lost. You may have to offer them a few bucks for the inconvenience but it may be worth the effort. Good luck.

    Titles

There is a company in Alabama some where that goes by the name "Titles Unlimited". They have a form you fill out with the vin number. They run a search on it and if it comes back clean they will issue you a new title for a fee. I think they even have a web site. Not sure of the address. I gave all my info on them to Maverick Guy when I sold him the 72Grabber with no title. He may still have their number and such. Hope this helps.
