I converted my car to a 5-speed stick about a year ago, using a cable activated clutch, but in the past 12 months, I've melted through 2 cable because it runs too close to the exhaust manifold because the mustang ones are too short in length.

I have the mechanical linkage that connects the clutch pedal to the equalizer bar to the clutch fork, but it's a pull type fork and I need a push type fork. My question is: Is all I need just the clutch fork or are there more components needed?

Please refrain from telling me to try another cable. thank you

Why not an insulating jacket like the one's i've seen on spark plugs?...Or come up with an aluminum heat shield to go between the cable and headers?...I would try that before pulling the tranny....But if you insist i'm pretty sure the pivot location for the fork is on the opposite side of the bellhousing on the push type

I've insulated each cable I've used, once with rubber, once with header wrap. The problem is that thereis absolutely NO ROOM between the exhaust manifold and shocktower and both the cables, even different length, can't seem to run in front of the shocktower and next the frame to reach the bellhousing.

So, basically, I need a push style clutch fork, throwout bearing, and pivot ball. any suggestions where to obtain them?

a blowproof bellhousing from lakewood may have the option for both. then all you would need is the stock fork for a top loader.

Why not drill a hole in the shock tower and run the cable on the wheel side.

Do you have a stock aluminum bellhousing or a stamped steel one? My Lakewood came drilled for both a push or a pull type fork, so I don't believe it would be too hard to convert if it's steel. Otherwise you are looking at another bellhousing. I know with my sons car we had a Lakewood for a Toploader and we had to buy an adaptor for the added length and bolt pattern of the T5.
