Well I went and looked at 2 mavericks today. Got lied to again, said It was a solid car....well the floors were rotted, passenger door looked like an axe was taken to the front of it, the interior was shot.....now for the good
the hood was in in good shape just surface rust, fenders are ok, and it has front disc brakes from a 75 4 door here is the best part setting in the garage is a perfect GRABBER HOOD :yahoo: minus the front trim that goes with the sale....tried to buy just the hood but he wont sale it seperately and he wants 500 bucks for it all..oh and it comes with a wrecked 4 door(no drive train.

the other car, 74 2dr 6cyl. was was in good shape but he wants 2500 for it.

then the other was just the body 72 grabber Numbers matching had the grill and the entire front end off the car, the floors were in good shape, but the drivers side door was touching on top and bottom and the rear fender wells and regular hood were heavly rusted...300 for it.
concidering a grabber hood just went for 500+ and 150 shipping on ebay
and disc brake setups are going for 150+ I could part out the first one.
    Any commets about these.....

Well I called him back today and said i would take the cars, just to get the hood. I get the 74 2dr home then go back and get the 75 4 door. I haveno use for the 4door except maybe the fenders and bumpers for the 74. I will strip all the good stuff off then scrap the rest of it.

well I now have 6 cars in the yard, the grabber hood is now in my garage and he also gave me a passenger door of a grabber...has the stripe along the bottom. The 4 door well be towed home sometime in the next few days. If anyone in the local area needs anything off the 4 door come an get it, I will be keeping the fenders.

Well got my friends and family trained well, Just got a call about another maverick with a grabber hood about 50 miles away. It is parked in a field.
Going to go look at it either today or tomorrow.
My neighbors are not going to stand much more of this.

Well I went to look at the other "GRABBER".....well from the road it had all the grabber stuff, had the hood, 3 peice spoiler, black grill, and black out around the head lights. Then when I took a closer look the "owner/resaler" came out. He had just bought it to sale it, hat it for just a couple of days.
First the key switch was in the dash..69 1/2
    Vin tag was 1971
    last registration was 1971
Gas tank was a drop in 1969 or 70
door step plates were 69 or 70
    doors and factory sport mirrors
Engine was a 170 3 speed manual with hole cut in floor for shifter.

He wanted $1500 for it, I figure I would pass on it...TOO fishy
as soon as i started stating the dates of what was what about the mavericks he got testy kept saying it was a 71 according to the paper work and basicly wanted to go back in his house.

So if anyone wants to look at it, it is located on hwy 68 before you get to spring city on the right.

I still have to go and get it, it doesnt have a rear drive train, nor does it have the centerlink to hold the wheels straight. He took the disc brakes off it and put on the 74 that i got from him, and took the drums off the 74 and put on the 75,

It does have a nice battery area that I thought about taking it all apart to transplant onto my creation.

It will be interesting getting it onto the trailer. I have a 3700LB winch so i can double the cable and get a little more pull out of it.

Everyone local wants me to buy

Well got a call from david the other day wanting to sale me his
73 maverick. he just put in a 351w, without notching the towers, a rebuild C4, and a 3.55 rear end. wants $2000,

Then clifford called 2 days ago and said he couldnt get the title to the
grabber shell ,numbers matched by the way, and offered it to me for 200 bucks. It does have the grabber 3 peice spoiler and the black grill and both are in seem to be in great shape. I figure that since a spoiler just went for over 200 bucks and the grills have been getting 50 - 100 on ebay
the price is ok for parts. I can always use them to make a clone. I will have to see if the frame is tweeked, if it isnt then I will start the process of getting a vin check and run down the last owner, or I will just get a bill of sale and go to the DOT and find out what to do.

Also got informed of another grabber parked in the back yard about 20 miles from me, going tomorrow to talk to the guy that knows where it is.:drive:
sooner or later i will find me a 71/72 grabber that isnt a clone.

at the moment all i will have is green from the 4 door, still havent started a restore so i dont know what i need.

If I am lucky I will be getting a true 71 grabber with 80,000 miles on it.
rhe biggest rust on it is 3 or 4 quarter sized holes in the passenger floor.
everything else is light surface rust.
car has been setting for at least 5 years and the owner is 76 and isnt going to do anything with it and is reluctant to sale. But the wife and daughter want to see it gone and go to someone that will put it to use
and restore it. I talked to the daughter and told her that I had cash and if she could get him to change his mind I will deliver the cash within a couple of hours of their call......time will tell.
