If you already have disc brakes and wanted to upgrade your calipers and rotors ( bigger) and use the same spindles are there any parts that interchange? Are front brake lines Maverick specific or will mustang say 1970 -73 work since you can get braided lines for them. Thanks for any imput.

As a matter of fact, yes. This setup is shown on a '75-'80 Granada spindle [for adaptation to a '65-'73 Mustang], but this spindle design was actually first available on the Mavericks/Comets starting in '74 before they carried over into the '75-'80 Ford Granada/Mercury Monarchs.

The 13" rotor and alumium twin piston PBR caliper is from the '94-'04 SN95 Cobra Mustangs.

I would bet you'd need at least 17's, that's what the Cobra ran all the way through.

The Ford part number for disc brake hoses is D6AZ-2078-A, right and lefts.

Your factory disc brakes should be more than adequate, if they are in perfect working order. You running a booster?

Upgrading the rear drum brakes is what I would look into.
    Stock are 10 x 1-3/4" shoes.
The small 6 cylinder rear drums are 9 x 1-1/2".

They can be upgraded to 10 x 2" or 10 x 2-1/4". Should be a bolt in to your existing 8 inch rear end.

Drums, backing plates, wheel cylinders, and hardware from a 1968-71 Ford mid size. I believe that 1972 or 73 was the year that Ford changed to the large bearing axles on mid sized and larger.
Heavier duty brakes are easily found on station wagons and Ranchero's.
10 x 2" backing plates are the easiest to find on on cars such as, 1969-71 Cougars.

The Maverick/Comets use the small 2-13/16" rear wheel bearings, so the earlier backing plates and drums are required.
10 x 2 drums are available repop fairly reasonably.
