hum something i noticed today while putting on my 7/8 bar on my I6 maverick.

Now i know why thats the only size they make for a maverick. i know it was meantioned that you could order a 1-1/8 custom or put 1 inchers off a mustang on a maverick (http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=16175) but i know now the reason why 7/8 is what they carry in stock only.

anyways after putting the 7/8 bar on my I6 maverick i noticed there is less then a 1/4 clearance between the swaybar and oil pan. where as a V8 has plenty of room. so if you put a incher on it will for sure hit the pan.

just something i noticed. anyone else ever notice that? or is it just me?

either way just an FYI if anyone desides to do a 1 inch or bigger on a I6

well if there is 1/4 inch clearance....the 1 inch is only 1/8 thicker than the 7/8....and thats outside diameter....so the clearance will be 3/16 from the oil pan now instead of 1/4.....

you could also put washer between the sway bar mount and the bushing clamp...that would keep it the thicness of the washer lower ..... i have heard of people doing that...it sounds a little southern rigged....but it works fine from what i understand...

and i definetly need the larger sway bar on my car....i never upgraded the sway bar after the engine swap..and i can feel it swaying awful bad...

You are correct, however the 3/4" bar was standard while 7/8" was optional...so they actually made two bars for the Maverick. I "believe" that '75 was the first year that the 7/8" was offered from the factory, but I could be wrong...

OK, so which Mustang bar fits the Maverick? I am guessing the 1-inch '65-66 Stang bar?

yes your right with the math.. but you also gotta consider when you jack up the car the swaybar moves. when i jacked the car up the bar pushes agaist the oil pan... if it was one inch it would for sure dent the pan. maybe thats why it was an option.... or maybe it was only an option on a V8... just a thought.

either one will fit.. you just gotta make if fit right. ;)
