Muffler size?

    hey guys, im looking to buy a Cherry Bomb glasspack or something similar, but dont know the size of the tubes that it connects to. Any ideas? i have a 1974 250 I6... thanks

    Not sure what your asking...
    Are you going to take it to a muffler shop to have it installed? If not, climb under the car and see what size tail pipe you have. I'm guessing you would be fine with 2". Are you going to put it in the rear where the original muffler is located, if so I would reccomend that you support the new glass pack either by transfering the original hanger over or build a new hanger. you dont that thing to flop around and end up breaking the muffler stub or body. You should weld it together as opposed to clamping it. I doubt you will be able to separate the original pipes and reuse the slip anyway. Ford used a horseshoe style clamp that crimps the crap out of the pipe. Personally, I would look for a 2" x 18" to 20" glasspack to replace the stock muffler in the stock location (y) . Jamie

    Ya, thats probably just a generic photo, but just in case, you will need to get a straight in, straight out. The offset inlet and outlet make be kind of a bear to fit it there. Everything else sounds about right. Good luck! (y)
