I know where there is a junk mustangII thats complete (sorta). My question is,.. can the stock front end be used under a maverick or comet. I know there are a plenty of front suspention kits out there based on this design, but can the stock set be used. If so, what kind of price would someone expect to pay (ballpark). And lastly, should I consider this as an upgrade?

I'm thinking all you would need extra would be one of the custom cross members for a Maverick. The factory stuff shouldbolt up to it. And you would either need to re drill the rotors to 5 lug or get new 5 lug rotors unless you want to run MII 4 lug wheels....

All of the stock bolt on pieces will fit your Maverick, once you convert over, but I wouldn't use a stock Mustang II crossmember. You are much better off with an aftermarket crossmember. Brand new clean steel and much much stronger than stock.

I was going to go the stock route at one time but realized that the piece is 35 years old and will not just fit between the frame rails of a Maverick. I'm glad I bought an aftermarket one :thumbs2:

The cross member kit that I bought is spaced out for an early Comet/Falcon which measure 25 1/2 inches inside to inside of the frame rails and our cars measure 26 1/2 inches. FT gives you 2 plates to weld to the inside of the frame rails to span the load of the MII cross member mounting point. I still had to add another steel plate to act as a shim to both frame rails but it all turned out good in the end. I still want to drop the top hats a little more over the frame to give my top A-frames some more static angle but that's my preference. Same principal as the Shelby drop.

Clay at Full Tilt was supposed to be building a cross member that is a direct fit into a Maverick/later Comet but I haven't heard anything new about that.

I just talked to Clay and he says a kit for my '72 would cost $1599 plus shipping. Guess he did the crossmember.

My Full Tilt crossmember, inside frame plates, top hats for the big springs plus the offset tubular lower A-frames cost 585.00 which included shipping from Colorado to Pennsylvania.

I shopped around and bought everything else seperate little by little.
