Mustang II in a Comet

    Did ya ever try measuring up a Mustang II suspension in a cold Wisconsin rain? Not advised.

    So I tried searching the BB for the info I want. No find.

    What I need is the dimensions of the 4 pivot points in relation to each other. Distance between lower control arm pivots. Distance between upper control arm pivots. Height differential between upper and lower control pivot points.

    Search Google for a diagram and came up empty. Looked in a few chassis parts catalogs without success. Anyone know where I can find such a diagram with all those dimensions?

    I'll be building the Mustang II style crossmember to go into the '75 Comet. Then adding tubular control arms, etc, etc. I should probably add here that I've been welding for 50 years and am certified with stick and wire in all three positions.

    1971 Maverick Grabber 98 DOHC Cobra engine w/5speed, 1974 Pinto 2.0 4speed daily driver.
    I would just buy a Rod & Custom crossmember if I were you. I have one in my Grabber and for $400 it saves a ton of time and work. Installation would take about a day or so.

    I suppose I could make a reference to the Kamasutra in answering, "all 3 positions", but I won't(y). Flat, Verticle, and Overhead welding. Also have done some aluminum welding, though never went for certification.

    I have a stick of 4"X4" steel tubing laying around and will be building 3 MII suspensions for 3 up-coming projects including the Comet. I'll build all 3 for about $40 plus my labor ( which most people say is worthless anyway )............and I certainly have more time than money:cry:.

    Part of why I need this info is because the other projects will need the tread width altered. Morris Minor and MG Midget. And yes, I will be narrowing the rack and pinion to match the front end and not have bump-steer. Or shorten the tie rod ends and the lower control arm to match.

    I've been looking for this info as well. There is absolutely no reason to spend that much money... (at least that's what my wife says) if you have the ability to do the welding yourself and access to free or cheap materials. My stepfather is certified to weld on submarines and builds aircraft as a hobby. I'm pretty sure a simple front suspension he could weld in his sleep.
