this saturday i went to my local drag strip to race for my first. it is an 1/8 mile track. my quickest time with a 302, stock 2.73 gear, street tires, and peg leggin it was 10.261 at 62.66 mph. i boke out in the first round against a 72 nova with a 5.90 dial in. I KNEW IT WHEN THAT THING CAME FLYIN BY AT 100 MPH. i have a 4.11 gear in the shed waiting to go in, but that will wait till next season so i dont waste the gas all winter. that 4.11 will make my 73 maverick come to life.

I'll bet you had a blast!

That car with the 5.90 dial-in was doing WAY more than 100 mph when it beat you to the line.

IMO, for them to allow cars to race each other with that much of a difference in e.t. is very dangerous for both drivers (but that's a discussion for another thread)

You've been bitten. You'll need some type of mini-spool to get the power to both wheels when you go to the 4.11's (but that's a discussino for another thread :D)

Keep us updated on the results of future events.

Yup, you'll now find half your thoughts consumed by making the car go faster and the other half wondering if the track is open Friday night:coco: :D

you realize... your life will never be the same... working from paycheck to paycheck.... reading summit racing magazines when sitting on the toilet.... spacing out watching horsepower tv and trucks and all those other shows while your wife is yelling at you... then you get up and opent he hood to the car and stare at it for an hour.... then get online and do some research... buy some parts.. put them on... then mark the calender for the next test and tune day....

    yeah

addiction.... better my maverick than drugs or alcohol...

    i LOVE the track...

DUDE, I thought it was just me :coco:

I am actually waiting right now to get my street legal exhaust system (with exhaust dumps for the track!) put on Friday morning, and am hearing rumors that the track is shut down for a few weeks for repairs. I think I need to take my :chillpill :chillpill

I have new GT40P heads, headers, Torker intake, and exhuast system that I really want to try out...I will post results afterwards.
