anyone know what predisposed ford as to where they put the large nameplate on the car.was it by year, model, customer request etc.?
It must have been 1976 when they deleted the emblems all together...according to the cars I have parted out.
You know its funny this was brought up. Because I was just looking at Rafe158's 72 on his chin spoiler thread and noticed his nameplates on the side of his car are in the later models location on the roof pillar, (it struck me as odd so I searched through his original posts to see what model year his car was). My 72 has the name plates on the front fender.... Wonder if it has something to do with the fact that I had a vinyl top. I know I have started a thread about this question before and thats one of the reasons I noticed it. ahh here is my original thread http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=57000
It looks like in 1973 it was either on the fender or the roof pillar (never noticed that before). I have had several 1973's with it on the fender. Even with a full vinyl roof.....the nameplate was still placed on the roof pillar like on this 1974
