I just got a set of crower solid roller lifters from a guy at the dragstrip ...like new with only 10 passes on them! (he switched to jesels) He sold them to me for 100 bucks....they are like 600 new from summit, Problem is one of the lifters in each pair is offset, I have a solid roller cam that i just installed and have dart pro 1 alluminum heads, can I run these with this offset or did I just waste $100 bucks? any help would be greatly appreciated!

    thanks guys!

    are they .150 offsets?

if yes.. you can use offset rockers.. or offset lifters at those minimal offsets without much issue.

I will warn you though.. running offsets without the matching offset for the opposite end of the pushrod does accelerate needle bearing/valve guide wear and inevitably leads to potential valve sealing issues over the long run.

Using matched offsets.. ie; rockers matched to the lifters.. helps the situation somewhat.. but depending on valve spring pressures and rpm.. usually still leads to quicker wear from a geometry/side loading standpoint.

As long as you keep in mind that they were designed for race vehicles in limited use environments and have no issue with inspections/rebuilds within 30-50k miles?.. knock yourself out.

I've run them on 2 street vehicles so far(currently running them on heavily modified/port relocated Vortecs in my work van).. and they hold up fairly well with more street friendly spring pressure/rpm. Most mileage I've ever put on a set is around 40k or so.. but wear patterns were decent enough to go longer if I had wanted to. I usually pull my stuff apart mainly because I can't stop upgrading my junk. lol

I'd also highly recommend thicker walled pushrods if you don't already run them. That will help reduce the flexing associated with that slightly skewed geometry.

    Hope that helps.

PS. this question would have likely been better placed in the tech section of the forum. Good luck with it all.

thanks for the advise ..im not sure what offset they are ..this is a street strip engine that I am building , I have forged internals , hardend pushrods/valve seats etc.... this car is not a daily driver it will be used mostly on weekends crusing about 10 miles each way to local car shows and an a few track days here and there. I just hate to not use parts of this quality(especially when i get a good deal on them) they are .875 and the off set seams to be straight towards the side of the lifter ...I would have posted this in the tech section but I assumed I would get more hits and advise in this spot.

    thx
