Bought a 302 for the Maverick with a set of aluminum Patriot Heads, Only numbers I see on them is 6444 and 65436. Anyone have any info on these? And quality of Patriot Heads?

I have only heard good things about Patriot Performance. They had to file bankruptcy but, I believe, have come back under a diffrerent name. As I recall, the small block Ford heads have really decent flow numbers. A lot better than the what you would exspect, from the $900.00 price tag, and made in the U.S.A.

Patriot heads are chinese castings with inferior parts and even worse machine work. Sorry but they're junk.

I read where they are comparable to a set of ported iron heads.

My comment came off a bit harsh and I'm sorry for that. People have bought the patriot heads thinking its a bargain. Then they end up replacing most of the parts and fixing all of the machining screw ups and they end up spending as much as if they had bought good tfs heads and they don't flow even close to those heads. So basically money wasted. You have a bit of a different story because your car came with them though. My advice is to not spend any money on them if you're looking for top performance. They would be fine for a daily driver as long as they're gone over by a good machine shop.

No problem John Holden, I ask opinion on them. Doesn't matter got them with the engine at a deal. Fresh rebuild on motor. It's a 302 bored .030 over, Patriot Aluminum heads, Comp Big Thumpr Retro Fit Roller Cam, SRP .030 Over Forged Pistons, Harlan Sharpe Roller Rockers, Edelbrock F4b intake, Power Master XS Torque Starter, Street Fire MSN Multi Spark Ignition, Canton Racing Oil Pan etc., Got engine for $ 700.

If they pass your visual inspection?.. the castings are usually decent enough. Sometimes porting them uncovers hidden porosity though. As Frank mention's above.. better than un-ported factory iron for sure. IMHO.. the weight saving alone is worth the extra cost of the aluminum.

The biggest issue with the offshore stuff is the quality of the machine work and parts used to complete the package. Unfortunately,.. in today's corporate economy and shareholder mentality of "take the money and run".. that also carries over to the "American made" stuff too more than ever. Which is why the more serious builders will usually order bare castings and finish them off in-house. It really pays to check everything and replace cheaper parts as needed for better margin of safety and improved piece of mind.

You didn't do bad for what you got for $700. I would not run the F4B because there are plenty of intakes that perform a whole lot better. The F4B is nearly 50 year old technology.

Good point. I missed that one.

That little motor is begging for a taller and larger volume dual plane.

When I say all I have heard is good, I mean from my friends, who run them. Two fox bodies with 347's. They have run them for a few years now, with 0 issues. These cars get beat on daily. That's all I can say.
