    Hello everyone,
Well, thanks for reading this post. I am fairly new to Mavericks/Comets but not new to cars/restorations. I bought a 74 Comet Gt last year that i wanted to restore, but after starting to pull it apart it just seems like there is too much rust to make it worthwhile. The drivetrain is a 302/4bbl with a C6 transmission. The car runs and the engine sounds strong, the transmission shifts good and i see no fluid leaks. On to my question. Today i looked at a 74 Maverick, baby blue with baby blue interior. The car has 30k miles on it, has a 250 ci 6 cyl and a c4 tranny. The car has sat for many years and the engine is frozen. the interior is in mint shape, bucket seats, but baby blue. Ok, how much work would it be to swap my 302 out of the comet into the maverick? Also, would the engine bolt right up the C4 that is in there or should i move the C6 with it? Is all the wiring the same/radiator, etc? If i do this, i am thinking about painting the car grabber blue, but i dont know if the baby blue interior will go? Has anyone seen this combo? The floors/trunk are mint on the maverick, the only real rust issues were the lower rear quarters, and it was minor. Opinions or ideas welcome. I dont know alot about old fords as i have had mostly GM and Mopar in the past, so i am unsure what needs to change in the engine bay to put the 302 in. Also, the comet has disk brakes and the maverick has drums, would you swap in the discs? Ok, i am looking forward to any help! thanks.

It's pretty much a straight swap.

lots of info in the tech section on this site. some quick things that you will encounter.
the 302 will bolt up to the c4. the 6 cyl c4 is weaker than a v8 c4. it can be built to v8 specs. you have the c6 stick with it.
the frame stands for the motor mounts are different so transfer those.
transfer the radiators. they use different size hoses.

Baby Blue with white stripes? Beautiful color combo, it's a 70's car, they are a little different....

250 and 302 used the same transmission and radiator...170-200 6 cyl transmissions were weaker

thanks for the advice, So i think if i do it, i would leave the c4 in place, also leave the radiator and just swap the entire engine with mounts in. Sounds easy enough. So, i am now looking for more ideas on color combos to go with that baby blue interior, it is actually blue with almost a pearly kind of color to it. The interior is mint, so i want to keep it. I really am not a fan of white or silver for exterior colors, i really wanted to do the grabber blue. Currently the car has a kind of 1/2 vinyl roof on the top that looks cool on it, but i can feel some bumps underneath so i am assuming there is some rust under there so i will probobly have to pull it off. i think i might replace the top, however. Maybe just a medium blue metallic?

You will need a 157 tooth flex plate for the C4, you can use the block plate off the 250 but not the flex plate. The C6 has a 164 tooth and will not work with the bell housing in the car.
