i am new to this site. first let me say "thank god for this site"!!!! i have spent hours on the net looking for parts for my 73 comet and have found some stuff i dont need and nothing i do need or want. first of all my comet is a 73 with a 250 6 for a motor. it had a vynle top that has been ripped off. not sure if i'm going to redo the top or prep for paint without. all of the roof trim is good and not bent or anything. researched the car a little bit and found i am only the second owner of it. sounds hard to believe i know..... but i lucked out. i purchased the car on impulse for $300.00 from a neighbor who really didnt want to keep it anymore. he is a salvager and a woman called him and gave it to him for free just to get it out of her garage. i guess the story is her father bought the car new and drove it very rarely the last 15 years or so until he passed away .i have never set out to find a comet but have always liked them. now that i have it.....it would be very hard to part with it. it is not a GT but i would like to clone the GT look. are there any fiberglass bolt on scoops that look good? and what other year comets and or maverick parts are interchangeable? and is there a way to move the front bumper in about 5 inches? i think the look of the front could be improved. so i welcome all ideas and pics anyone can give me. i will post pics as soon as i can figure out how to post them. and one more thing......my comet is moss green.... inside and out! i plan on painting the car but would like some ideas on interior mods to accent the new paint job... once again thanks to all who can help me

Howdy and :Welcome: You can convert it over to the smaller bumpers if you can find a doner car. Almost all parts on these cars are interchangable. The GT hood scoops are sold by AutoKrafters, & the GT side stipes are sold by Graphic Express. Also keep an eye on EBAY. A good source for parts for these cars.

:Welcome: to the board. Can't wait to see pictures....I took my 73 Comet LDO & put GT items on it. So now, I have a Comet LDO/GT.....Go figure....I liked the hood scoop, sport mirrors, blacked out grill, headlight bezels & tailights. I put a 69 Mach 1 spoiler on the rear. I did manage to find a front spoiler though Maverickconnection...

We have the Comet GT scoops and GT decals too. Plus we have much more depending on what your Comet has now, such as dual sport mirrors, front spoilers, etc. It's hard to get around the green interior without a complete changeover. No seat covers are available, but you can have them recovered in another color (expensive), then just paint the kick panels, door panels, and rear seat side panels. If you painted the exterior black, you could just change some of the interior trim to black, or none at all (green goes with black, right?). We also have reproduction carpet, headliners, and dash pad caps. You can change just those to black. We also have personalized floor mats with "Maverick" on them. You could also paint the outside white to contrast the green. It's easier to repaint the outside than change the inside color unless the inside is already poor and needs to be redone anyway. Good luck with your new project.
