Well, the Mav left me walkin' for the first time today. The car stalled out in a turn lane in downtown Lawrenceville traffic. I tried over and over to get it to start and it wouldn't do squat. The turn light came on and went off a couple of times and traffic started backing up (worse then it already was) and cars started going around me finnally. I didn't have any clue what to do. Luckily a Motorcycle cop pulled up and directed traffic around so I could push the car out of the turn lane, across the street into a church parking lot. I looked it over and it seems as if the fule pump has gone out. It cranks over and no gas is getting pumped to the carb. The car has been sitting in the parking lot of the chruch for about an hour now and I need to know ASAP what it takes to change the fule pump. Do you just pull take the 2 screws out and it slips right out and slip the new one in or what?

    I appreciate it!

Yup ... that is all that is required to change it ... Hopefully nothing is clogging the fuel line or fuel filter ... Is your guage working? You got gas right? :) Good luck ..

Just the two bolts and the 2 lines, piece of cake.
If you haven't replaced the fuel lines at the pump now would be a good time to do it since the harden up over time. Don't forget the gasket and the sealer.

Ok, thanks. Yea Dan, I'm praying nothing is clogging the lines up. I was close to empty when this happend, but should have had more then enough gas to get to a gas station. When I got it to the parking lot, the first thing I did was take my gas can and walk down to a gas station and get 5 gallons worth of gas. The gauge is showing half a tank now.

The fule pump is pretty much the ONLY thing on the whole car I have never really given much attention to while I been working on it. Guess I should have known better...

I just called my mom and she is leaving work early, we're gonna run over to Auto Zone or somewhere and grab a new pump and go put it in and pray it starts.

    I appreciate it.

I'm still waiting on my mom to get home. The car is about 3 1/2 miles from here and I'm not walking all the way back just to wait on her there.

He may as well have a warranty plan, as much help as he has given me since I bought it off him. :)

All the rubber lines are new, it has a like new sending unit, and the tank is spotless inside.

    Good one, burlap. :biglaugh:

Well we went up to Advance and they would have to special order it for 28.95 and it would take 3-4 days to get it. Went to Auto Zone and they also had to special order it, but it will be here tomarrow at 11:30 AM for 31 bucks. (y)

I went over to my friend Brent's house and we drug the Mav home with a tow rope and his big 4X4 Toyota truck. Should get the pump tomarrow and get it put on. I'll let you guys know how it goes.

My grandpa sells licens plates at his Flea Market that say "I'd rather push a Ford then drive a Chevy!" Guess it's time to get one of them... :biglaugh:

Well, got the new pump put on and guess what? It's stil barely pumping. WTF is going on? I put a clear hose on the inlet side of the pump so I could see what it's doing and its pulling like 3 inch long tubes of gas and theres like a inch of air in between the gas and it's moving VERY slow. It's pump just enough gas into the filter to keep it running at idel. If you rev it up it quickly sucks the gas out of the filter and the fule line goes dry and it stumbles and dies. Whats up now...
