There is a listing for a 1974 Comet on e-bay and the seller claims it has a new gas tank. The pics appear to show a new, correct gas tank. I'm just wondering if anyone knows where he may have found it. Check it out and please let ne know.
    Thanks,
    Gene

I looked and found no fuel tank for a 74. Rock auto and others I looked for did not show a tank for a 74 either. If there is a new fuel tank for a 74 then please let us know more. Thanks and Merry Christmas,

Ops, sorry about that. I see the car now. It does look to have a new gas tank. So if someone can find out it sure would help us out. Could this be a later tank with the longer straps/retainer bolts?

Colud be...only need longer bolts. The early straps will work with the larger tank

    Thanx Folks,
I was asking because I was under the impression that there were NO new gas tanks available for ANY Mavericks. I may need one for a 71. Can I assume that almost any year is easily adaptable to other years?
    Thanx Again,
    Gene

The 75-77 Tank, which you can buy new, will fit any Maverick from 71-77. With very little work, there are lots of posts about it, that'll give you all the little details.

i have a later 75-77 tank in my '71 and all i did was use the 75-77 fuel straps...bolted right in and no interference with my rear valence

The mav is gone but i'm still here!
Napa also carries them. Rock auto seems to be the cheapest, but i think you have to pay for shipping. Also they dont have it listed for a 75 so search under 76. They should carry the straps also. Or you can get longer anchor bolts. Ive had my repro tank for five years and im very happy with it. Also theyre all made by the same company so you dont have to worry about which one is best, just get the cheapest you can find.
