    Hi,

Just signed up a short bit ago and would you believe it I came across a 72 maverick with an inline six and an auto(what trans could this be?). The breather cover says the engine is a 250. It has ps and air didn't look to see pb but they are front drums. It looks to be all stock except it has a different hood with cut off hood pins and no springs to hold it up it also has the little "nostrils" for a sporty look and the pieces on the back that give it a small spoiler flare and single into dual exhaust. It looks like someone tried to start a hot rod project. It has its issues the whole underside of the dash is missing... no glove box everything exposed. The seats are there but a bit broken down. all of the glass is in place and no cracks. the front windows roll up and down. The rear vents open and latch. I could not look in the trunk and have no idea what else may be offered with it. The body looks to be clean with no work but I did not confirm this. It was sitting outside of an auto clinic and no one was around. I have no idea if it runs or drives but it looks like it may FWIW the dome light came on when I opened the door. . So lets say it runs and drives and stops without any major issues i.e repairable no knocks, clunks or bumps. What would be a ball park figure of its value within say 500ish bucks. I know a little opened ended but give it your best shot. I have no idea what its worth. I plan on contacting the owner but figured this would be a good way to brake the ice here as a new member.

    Take Care

it has a grabber hood and a grabber spoiler the hood can sell for 600 if it has no rust and the rear spoiler 200 to 300 and the 72 car having them it just might be a real ( maverick grabber ) that would be sweet car to own // bucket seats // and you sed it has a perfect dash if it does not have a dash cap/cover on it there's another 300

as far as the lower dash it's just a dash tray that bolts up

take some water next time you look at the car and pour it into the front vent between the hood and the windshield then see if it has any water leaks in the car under the dash // if it does then you have rust in there that iwill take alot of work to fix // look under the tech forms there is a thread about this

with all of this sed don't think he / she know's what they have start off lowballen ?

i have a 72 mav in my pics take a look

It is in Michigan but definitely not a MI car. The hood is drilled for the hood pins. At a quick glance and a knuckle tap here and there looking for the typical MI rust on old Fords it seems pretty solid. I do not think its a grabber the car is gold with brown/mustard interior with a bench seat. The hood is surface rusted gray/white primer. The rear spoiler stuff is blue so I think add ons to make the look of a grabber. I was not able to see in the trunk. thanks for the tip on the water trick I'll try that one. thanks for the link I'll check it out. It looks like a real good project car for a guy like me. Any idea of the trans behind the inline?

If it's the 250 six cyl., it should be a C4, which is a very good transmission. Where in Michigan are you/

    Hi Lee,

I'm in Whitmore Lake. I thought it was the C4 but I was not sure. If all goes well with the Maverick it will fit nicely into my stable. I am currently building a kit car which I am planning to drop a 300 into it. If I get this car I may just put the 300/Borg warner T10 combo or it could be a 4.9l 5spd combo I have for backup. The 250/C4 might just fit in the kit real nice. Ya just never with me I can come up with some pretty wild ideas. I like to keep an open mind with my projects and try for "just a bit different" approach.
