As I posted earlier I got a shift kit for the mav today. However after driving around for awhile I noticed that the points at which the tranny (auto C-4) shifts seem to be different. Before the trans would shift at like 15-20mph (no tach right now) and then 2nd would last forever. Now first feels like it goes almost to 30mph then shifts hard, but firmly into second. Second doesn't feel as long as before. I know this might sound very odd but I just want to make sure that my baby is running like she should. The tranny shop that installed is honest and the owner test drove before he let me have it and he did not mention anything. I guess the main question is with this kit (B&M shift improver) will the shifts feel "harder" and more quick? Is there any signs that might indicate shotty install that I should look out for? Is there supposed to be a definite difference in the feel of the mav after this type of mod? Thanks Jeri
Absolutely. Shifts will definitely feel harder, and contrary to what you might think, this is actually better for the transmission. I don't think there's a problem with your install. If you're not happy with the shift points, you might consider an adjustable transmission modulator. This is a relatively inexpensive part that you can install yourself (if you're so inclined) and will give you the flexibility to taylor the shift points to your taste. Sam
Thanks Sam. Since this is a relatively new mod for me, and as yet I am the first person I know to actually do it, I had some reservations. Thanks for setting me fears to rest.
