I had a new vinyl roof put on my 1973 Maverick this week and I think it looks great. I had the same guy come out to the house that did the vinyl roof for my 76 Maverick. I also put on some bucket seat covers. I will put on a car cover on since it is out in the sun most of the time. The guy had to sand off some rust once the old vinyl roof was removed so it cost me a bit more. The total cost was $330. Photos attached.
Cool 4 door... I would ditch those wheels for some 20's. 245/30/20's. That would put the tire up into the wheel well and set it off. Just a thought. Or bag it with some 225/40/18's.
Nice ... so he removed all the chrome ... supplied the top, installed the top and then re-installed all the chrome for $330? How many hours of labor was involved not including the rust cleanup?
Only "show" I went to was Westworld in Scottsdale driving my 76 Maverick but the Maverick was not "show" quality enough so it sat in the parking lot. I have gone to a few parking lots where folks show off their cars. Yes he removed the chrome and replaced it. I had an old torn up vinyl roof that he took off then sanded away the existing rust then put a layer of something called thinsulate (sp) which looked like a roll of foam like packing material. He said that would keep the metal roof dry and help keep future rust away. He did it in about 4 hours. His name is Kermit Black (in yellow pages under Kermit's Vinyl tops) if you live in the Phoenix area. I highly recommend him. He is one of the few who are mobile.
So far I have not been able to find anybody in GA (at least local to me) that does vinyl tops. I went to a cruise in tonight and asked several guys about their tops. None of them had their tops done in Georgia ....
