i just installed my new weiand stealth intake and holley 600 carb and im trying to decide what is the most important upgrade i should do next headers, msd ignition, or a cam upgrade, or rear end upgrade im thinkin headers would be the wisest choice but im not sure, any suggestions would be well appreciated :scratchchin:

i would do headers or rear gears. i would then do 1.7 roller rockers before a cam. they are alot easyer to install than a cam.

i would have done the cam first...then while the intake was off, installed the "new weiand stealth intake and holley 600 carb."
pick the cam to match the bottom end (stock/stroker) and then the...converter stall and rear gear to match that...:yup:

when i Dynoed my 9:1 5500 RPM 306 i found out my msd ignition was...Eye Candy...we Dynoed it with it on and off, no diff. in the #s.
it would make a diff. on a high compression/rev. engine. ...JMO...

I agree with Frank regarding the Cam and intake. It's going to cost u a second set of intake gaskets when you do the cam. Next a convertor if a auto , then the gears. :)

I agree with both these guys, your going to have to take it all apart again, to swap out the cam and lifters. Plus, don't forget to have a harmonic balancer puller handy when your going to do it.

Well, you have increased the intake ability, now you need to increase the exhaust ability.

    Then gears.

And I agree, you shoulda done the cam while you had the intake off, but you can live with it a while and have fun with the car with that cam.

No doubt the wisest choice if you haven't done it already: disc brakes

    you did good...:thumbs2:

    installing a cam...in the car...is a pretty good job...:yup:
a stock street car with /A/C has a lot of stuff (nuts, bolts, brackets, rad, condenser, grille, hood latch, etc, etc to remove just to get to the motor...and i don't like the way the timming cover and oil pan bolt together. i think they have a special...cam swap timming cover gasket...
then there's the whole...changing the...valve springs...with the heads on the motor...might as wll replace the...Valve stem seals...while you have the springs off...:yup:
possibly change the...rad. hoses, belts and new anti-freeze also...
i'm sure i missed something...yes...when you pull the harmonic balencer replace the seal in the cover...(y)
a new waterpump may be in order while you have the old one off...and if it's the original pump...get prepared to drill out 1-2 waterpump bolts that will...break off......anti-seeze the new bolts.
on reassembly you may want to do the...[IMG] 93 Taurus 3.8 Fan & Shroud For Maverick & Comet
then there is the part where you put the cam in...:yup:
hoping the...cam bearings...are within specs...you will need to apply... assy. lube... to the cam before installing it into the bearings...then get it in time with the crank before installing the...new dbb. roller timming chain...:yup: (reinstall the manual fuel pump drive)
degreeing the cam... comes in here somewhere...
put plenty of lube on the...new lifters...before installing them.
bolt this sucker back together and fire it up for the...cam break in run...15-20 mins. at 12-1500RPMs.
change the...oil and filter...before you take it for a spin...
...if you picked the right...cam, TQ converter and rear gear...to go with your...new carb. and intake...this should be a fun ride...

    remember...Have Fun Doing It...

I would say, headers/exhaust next, then converter/gears when you do the cam ,they all have to work together to get most out of your combonation . the cam will require a stated rpm stall converter and gear to work in its rpm range (pick cam with the same rpm operating range as intake manifold) just keep in mind the engine your adding parts to :the compression ratio, stock heads?, cu.in., rpm its able to live at... and pick parts that will work with it as well. good luck with your project!!!
