I was looking at Mav's on e-bay the other day and i saw one without a front bumper. It looked REALLY nice. REALLY REALLY nice. So nice in fact i'm thinking of not putting the bumper back on mine. Just looking for opinions on this.
I do not have a front bumper on mine...not by choice. I ordered one the other day. I think it completes the car.
If you are going to drive the car on the street, you should check with your the state laws to see if it's legal or not. In Pa it is not legal to drive a car on the streets without a bumper. If the car is used for racing only, it's OK as long as the car is trailered.
Maybe if I take my heavy 1973 front bumper off I can get my front wheels off the ground like that too. Having a pic of my car in a pose like that is a life long dream. Some day, with some slicks and a nitrous launch. Just hope somebody is there with a camera
Funny that you should mention this. In the last few days I have been wrestling with the idea of building a fiberglass roll pan that would have the look of the rollpan used on the bumperless early Shelby Mustang 350R, for Mavericks, of course. It wouldn't be quite the same, but in the same spirit, so to speak. My daughter's current beau looks like he might be around for a while, and he has extensive experience in 'glass and even carbon fibre construction, as well as tools and resources, including a suitable workspace (he is a partner in a company that is designing and building a new type of kit plane). Just wondering out loud if anyone would be interested in such a product if it was well done? John B.
Ryan... ..the '73 bumper is not that heavy. The '74 and up bumpers are bulky and heavy. The mounting brackets weigh a lot on both. Seth
something like a gt350 or the pic above would be cool. I was wanting to do something else with the front of my car but I felt weird about putting early bumpers on a 73 grabber paint scheme. But something custom I would feel ok with. Maybe with some molded in cutouts for foglights.
