    Oil Pan help please

I need a new oil pan for my 347 build. I found this one and need to know if it will fit even if I have to put the motor in first and then put the oil pan on from underneath. The kickout is 13.5 inches wide.

    http://www.cantonracingproducts.com/pans/road_race/ford_front_sump.html

look at the 15-610. It has the dipstick bung in place which is something I will need for the March Style Track setup.

Thanks as usual for the input.

Looks like the one I am trying to use. I measured and it appears like it will fit, but I have not tried it yet.

I will watch and see if you can get it to fit.

So the 13.5 by your measurements is not too wide?

I run a Milodon 30925 pan it has a 11" sump width. It fits fine and can be installed on the engine prior to dropping it in. I imagine 13.5" will be tight and that doesn't appear to include the drain plug in that width measurement.

It looked like it would be really close, but just might fit.

So, how much EXTRA room should I keep, to be safe? To take into account engine movement during reving and driving?

My drain plug is at the back of the lower part, not on the side. So I didn't have to take that into account.

If it clears it shouldn't be an issue unless a engine mount breaks.

Another dimension to watch is if you're running it with a main girdle, the rear wall has to be kicked out in the center to clear the rear main studs.

Yes, I'll be running a main girdle. The pan is 4 inches deep at its shallowest point in the rear. That should be enough to cover the studs right?

i have a t sump pan on my mav. it didnt clear the lower controle arm mounts. i measured it and had it notched to clear. i lost about a 1/4 quart capacity. its a moroso pan but i suspect that you will have the same clearance issue

I was thinking about notching it if it didn't fit.

could you post a pic of it after you did it?

Can't tell you for sure on that. The aftermarket pans that use the stock pan as a base don't clear the rear studs. The contact point is the rear wall radius where the floor curves up into the wall. The pans that fit have a pressed out center portion. I'd post pics if I could. If you'll do some searching you can find this feature in pics of these pans, usually where they take the pics overhead of the inside of the pan.

OK, Got home and measured space between lower control arm mounting points to find there is only at most 11.5" there. This pan will not work without notching. If you are interested here is the link:

good price at 75.00 with only a few hrs left in auction.

I still think mine might fit, because it is homemade and different dimensions. It is 15" wide at the bottom rather than 13.5", but the squared pan sits lower and is not as deep. Mine is 9-1/2" deep overall, not 8" like all the ones listed on this thread.

I think my kickouts will be below the suspension mounts.

    I hope...

A whole bunch of Mavs in differente set-ups, from road race cars, to restomod and absolutelly original vehycles.
I've used Canton on Mustangs and itheyr're great, however, they won't fit Mavericks.
On Mavericks I've used Moroso 20503 and it didn't fit...I had to cut it...
Now I go with Milodon 31600...it's a great oil pan and fits right in!!
