Ok heres the question..we put a 95 mustang 302 engine in the maverick. It has the original flexplate to the 70 something tranny and the old balancer from the 70 302..I understand that there was a big difference in the weight balance between the two engines. So do I have to use the 95 flexplate and balancer or will it be ok because the flexplate and balancer match?
You will need the newer flexplate and harmonic balancer. They are matched to the internals of the engine.
Dang it..im thinking I should update the tranny to a newer c4..what do u recomend year wise or tranny wise? Will it hurt the engine to start it up and see if it runs? Also thinking about a hei distributor to clean up the engine bay..what do u recomend steel or chromemoly
You could get a pan fill C4 which use a 164 tooth flexplate but you still need a 50oz flexplate and front ballancer... If you transmission is a case fill you'll need a 50ox flexplate and that's aftermarke,t Ford never produced such a piece(I just bought one as I'm using a '92 5.0 engine in my Comet)... HEI yech, those things are uglier that the wiring that you can remove...
