OK, I have the tranny tweaked and am ready to test it at the strip. I'm thinking we could make it a "mini meet" and pull off a Wednesday or Friday run this June or July. It will probably require a vacation day due to being in the middle of the week, so keep that in mind. So how about it...who's in?
You know.......................this sounds like a good idea, not going to Pacific Raceway, but picking a drag strip that is more central to everyone and planning a get together at some 2 day event where we could all bring our Mavericks. I am not sure I would be willing to drive 11/12 hours..........but maybe. How about Sacramento, CA, Woodburn or even Medford, OR..............or?? Sacramento has there 2nd annual Ford vs Chevy drags.............that's about a month away. Just a thought.
Yes it would be fun to get a bunch of us together but most of the group is in Washington and I havent been able to convince them into coming to Woodburn for the All Ford Drags and have been trying for years. I have raced at Pacific, Bremerton, Yakima, Boise, Medford, Madras, Portland and Woodburn (home track) but havent made it to Sacramento yet, perhaps one of these days also want to make it to Mission in Canada and Somoa Dragstrip and watch and race with my friend JTComet who is kicking butt in Super Pro along with his brother kicking butt in pro with his Maverick. Dont care too much for 1/8 mile tracks
i would be able to make a sac meet, but the ford v chevy one looked more like a strict drag than carshow combo.... I will most likely be there anyway, just dont know if everyone would want to pay to enter their car in the drag race, or have to leave it in the general lot.
Hey Matterick, What size is your head. I have a good Bell Helmet, it's vintage but will work for protecting your "knoggen". It does have a Snell rating....... If you want it you can have it. It is still in the original box which is old, but shouldn't cost too much to send up to you.
Sierra Grabber, Well, maybe we could put the word out and find out how many people would like to race and maybe we could hold a small car show also......? I don't mind car shows, but I would rather be out "pounding the pavement".
i think the combo idea is a great one, that was what the all ford had going on. I personally wouldnt mind running the grabber down a strip at sea level, but that will require me renting a trailer in case i break something... its a long walk home BTW i would like to try to make that washington trip sometime but not this year sorry. gotta stay more on subject
If you run quicker than 13.99 seconds, then yes you'll need a helmet. Otherwise you can run without it.
Sierra Grabber, Just a question as to why you think something would break on the Maverick taking it down the strip. I would think more chances something breaking on my Maverick vs yours. It would be great to find a place where we could race and show the cars. Will look into this!
