I'm trying to decide what color to paint my Comet GT. One body guy says newer colors such as heavy pearls and metallics aren't good on old cars such as mine. Any thoughts on this?
If I had another COMET GT, and I did not like the original color, I would paint it orange-not reddish-orange with light metallic added. I think HONDA has a car with this color. It is almost a cross between rust and orange. I think that it would look good with black stripes and interior. Seth
Your body guy may be referring to multi stage paints. Multiple stages require more time and expense. But like Dan says "It's your car ... it's your money ... paint it any color you want!" The paint doesn't care what it is going on, find a different Body man.
The paint may not care, but there is such thing as the "wrong" color on a car IMHO. Not to say that you COULDNT buy a mint grabber and paint it hot pink....Im just saying that you SHOULDNT. I agree that some pearls or kandies may look wrong on a Mav. After all, its a pony car, not a chop top lead sled rod. Remember, its just my $ .02 AC
Wow, I really hope thats photochopped LOL I dont know about Pepto Bismol ads...it tends to make my stomach upset, not settle it hehehe AC
I think the pink looks cool! My daughter looked and says she loves it! By the way if look through the car at the driver's side mirror you can see that it's still red. good looking car ALMOST any color.
I agree! I think it looks real sweet.....good job on the photoshop. Hey, if the Mopar guys can do it....we can
DM- I don't think that it is as valuable that way. You are awfully good with that photoshop. Show me what mine would look like with orange/copper paint. Seth redcometgt@aol.com
i painted mine orange with white and orange pearl in the clear coat, and the car and paint didn't mind at all. i say go for it
Go original The color is the most visible part of any restored car. I suggest that you pick a color from the original color chart from that year. There were about 100 color choices in those years, so you could surely find a correct color you like. Try autocolorlibrary.com. You won't go wrong with a color that is not only of your choice, but that is also period correct
