Ok Im not shure if this is in the right area but, I have found a guy with some parts that I need he wants me to pay for them with Paypal which I have no problem with normaly but, I dont know this guy and its not through this board or Ebay so I am a little nervous. Is there a way to have a Payment held or partially held until feedback is given? Im only asking this because it has happened to me before while selling stuff on Ebay. I dont mind paying what he wants for the parts. But, I dont want to be scammmed either if its legit then I will feel safe letting you all know the link but, I dont wanna be the want that gets burned either any help would be appreciated.
if he sends you a request for money and he puts in the comment or massage part what he is sending you for the money you are protected by pay pal just like if you bought something off e-bay I had it done to me if he does not want to do that walk away from the deal ...what part is he selling you just to be nosy
I always use the "pay with credit card" option when using PayPal. I've done that several times for direct, person-person purchases not involving eBay. That way you're not giving out any of your cash until you pay your credit card bill, at which time you can dispute any scams. I've heard the credit card companies are biased toward the buyer in any disputes involving PayPal. I've only had to dispute one PayPal transaction, but that WAS thru eBay. I won the bid but the seller wouldn't ship the item. I gave him 6 or 7 weeks but when it was time to pay the credit card bill I disputed the charge and did not have to pay for it. Credit card company got a refund from PayPal and PayPal deducted the money from the seller's account. I didn't get the item I wanted but I wasn't out any $$$$. Expect it would work as well for a person-person transaction. As stated before, be sure you have a record of the transaction.
Not at all Its for seat risers but, getting tracks and seats also he wont sell just the risers figured I could just sell the tracks and seats myself as long as there in good shape.
Use credit card option whenever you are buying from a private party outside of ebay (unless you know them well). I had a transaction that went bad here on the board. I didn't use a credit card and while paypal did side in my favor, the seller had no funds in his account for paypal to take back for me - so I was SOL on that deal. Had I used a credit card, I could have turned it into my company and received a refund that way. Lesson learned.............. Here is a trick. Paypal will not allow you to use a credit card if you have a paypal balance. They will take the balance 1st. Here is what to do to override that. ---- Say you have $200 in your paypal account and you want to pay $50 on a credit card to a seller you are worried about. 1st - send ALL the money in your paypal account to another email address that is not connected to ANY paypal account - I use my wife's email address. She gets an email from paypal that someone is trying to pay her money - my paypal account has a zero balance as the funds are pending to my wife's email address - and now i can select the credit card option to pay the seller. After I pay the seller I go to the pending payment to my wife and cancel it - all money is returned to my account and no fees have been charged to do this. Now if there is a problem, the credit card will protect me. ............
