    On my 302 V8 Maverick....

I just had it tuned, new spark plug wires, new carb, timing set, new fuel filter and it still wants to hesitate when I initially startup. There seems to be a 1 second or so delay before the car starts to move after pushing the gas pedal.

Is this pretty much normal ? I know it will not be as responsive as my fuel injected car.

I don't think I would worry to much about it hesitateing when you first start it unless it's getting worse over time. Probably something to do with the choke.

As for it not moving for a second, I would check to make sure your trans fluid is not low.

not normal. sounds like a fuel problem. are you running the stock fuel pump? what carb are you running? might have to adjust the floats? i'd try that before playing with the jets or shooters. is the car sputtering on takeoff? if not, like jamie said check the fluid in the tranny.:)

Thanks, The tranny fluid is full and nice and red. The fuel pump is brand new as well.

I have my mechanic (not Pep Boys) coming to replace the ignition wiring tomorrow so I will have him check the carb while he is at it.
