    Hi everyone!
I was wondering if you guys can give me some advise on getting my car ready for a long road trip???
I'm planning on driving my Maverick out to California in a few months. A round trip is about close to 3,000 miles with my stops.
My maintenance list so far consists of: installing my rebuilt motor, new brakes, drums, wheel cylinders, fuel pump, battery & alternator, new aluminum 3 row radiator, new spare tire (in trunk along with aluminum floor jack & lug wrench). Extra oil, coolant, tranny and brake fluid etc.
Any advise would be appreciated! :thumbs2:

Thanks! The tires are a year old in great shape with about 7 or 8k on them, daily driver, so far driven 10k in the past year an a half and has never left me stranded. :)

check your belts and make sure your air pressure is the same in all of your tires bring a gallon of water before you hit your longest stretch of the trip make sure people know your route from start to finish including every stop in between.

telling someone your entire route is probably your most important thing to do after your cars checklist is done.

so many times people either die come near death because they come into bad weather or had a flat tire in the middle of the desert and end up stranded and no one knows where to look for them when they dont arrive when they should.

map a route and stick to it. make sure this is written down somewhere back home along with how many days youll be gone and where your stops will be and when you plan to be back this all goes with the above

check your water and oil at every stop before heading to your next destination
and my last bit of advice dont be afraid to stop somewhere when youre tired

okay one last thing dont forget your camera and we want to see plenty of pics
if you come near sacramento get in touch well hang we always enjoy meeting new comet/mav owners in person :thumbs2:

Thanks everyone for the advise! To answer some of your questions, I will be taking I-80 to until Sacramento, then I-5 to head to Salinas/Monterey area. So I wont be headed towards LA/southern Cali.

Salinas = gangland. Be careful. Some neighborhoods you might not want to drive around with out of state plates.
