I have a big problem with my Mav.It all started when i installed a new starter relay and a voltage regulator. At first everything was working fine. Then my problem began, when i turned on the engine, but the starter would not turn off,and i could not turn the engine off ,except to disconnect my negative cable.Thinking it was just a defective starter relay,i exchanged it ,and the problem would still be there.I then proceded to install new starter, starter wire, all new cables and all new wiring, but the problem is still there.
Please help me,i am in desperate need of fixing this a.s.a.p

Are you sure you didnt reverse those 2 small wires? If not. Turn it on so the starter is running and pull off the small wire next to the battery cable terminal. If it stops, then the problem is probably in your ignition switch.

Starter relays have a way of biting you back if you are not careful . Mavaholic is probably right it being your ignition switch or you have the wire that fires the relay into position to make the two large wires connect .

The part that you have to be careful about , is after the starter has been engaged too long ( minutes ) the relay tends to weld itself together and after you take some corrective action it still does the same thing .

Go get another relay preferably or test the old one . Put it back in but only hook up the two large guage wires that run the starter . Get a jumper with a switch or any thing to "Jump " a connection to the "S" terminal .
Now test the new relay by jumping the "S" terminal about 20 times to make sure your relay is ok be it a new one or not. Then hook everything back up EXCEPT the wire that goes to the "S" terminal . Turn just the ignition on (with the keys ), engage the starter with your jumper wire and see it it works correctly . If it does then it is your ignition switch .

Have your wrench and what not to unhook your battery right away if it wont disingage . MAKE SURE YOUR CAR IS IN PARK .

great point. I have seen many, many lawn mowers over the years that the relay contacts are welded together from being cranked a little longer than normal. It's quite annoying when you walk outside in the morning and a lawn tractor is cranking itself. Kind of makes you question your sanity:D

Take the big wires off the relay and jump the coil circuit again . It should be clicking , if not then the relay is stuck . Get another one and try it the same way BEFORE hooking up the large guage wires .

If all of this doesnt get to the bottom of your troubles you may want to get a priest to exorcise your mav.
