I have a 302 ( has maybe 50 miles on motor ). I'm running royal purple 10w40 oil.. Took a breather cap off today as found this.. I'm running antifreeze and I know that's not antifreeze in the oil base.. It stay's in my garage.. I called a royal purple rep thinking it might be condensation.. I sent him the pics, and say's it's straight water.. He said that if the car hasn't been out in the rain then somebody had to put water in it.. I really hate to think somebody would do that.. If that is the case, they must not value there life very much at all.. Just wondering if anybody else has had this issue.. Thanks again.. image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg image.jpeg

Only sure fire way to be sure is to drain the oil into a clean pan and see what it looks like...if someone dumped water in there you'd have two separate liquids come out....hopefully that's not the case

how long has the car been sitting? I had a very similar buildup on the oil fill cap, the car had sat for quite a while though, and the oil was old, but since it's not run much at all I could see that happening. If you start it and stop it often, with little drive time, water will never have the chance to evaporate out of the engine oil.

Looks like cold weather condensation to me, if oil isn't milky I'll say not a problem... This issue develops if engine isn't run long enough to fully warm and evaporate it off... I try not to start my stuff this time of year unless I'm going to run it for at least 30 minutes...

If the water was there last time you ran it, I think all your oil would be milky. I am a Ford v8 newb.....does water flow through any part of the intake manifold that could leak into the lifter galley?

I wouldn't be as surprised that water is in the oil if I was running water.. But I'm running antifreeze..

Yes. That's why you use sealer around the water jackets on the intake manifold. If the heads are shaved a lot you need to shave the intake also

My radiator level is full. It hasn't changed.. Having they much water in it is why I have the thought somebody put water in it.. The antifreeze in the radiator is full..

What was the total amount of fluid that came out of the oil pan? If it is more than what the oil capacity is minus what is in the oil filter then I would say something was added to the motor.
