My power steering has 2 symptoms (74 Grabber). First let me say I have replaced all suspnsion & alot of steering parts. Symtoms: 1. The car will be tracking perfectly straight down the road & then out of nowhere the steering will pull to the left. You correct it & it runs straight again. Then out of nowhere it will pull right. 2. When you go around a sharp curve the steering won't come back to center on its own. Kinda hard one to explain but in my other Mavs after going around a sharp curve I just sort of loosen my grip on the wheel & it straightens back out. New Parts: Power Steering Pump Control Valve I haven't replaced the "Power Cylinder" but it looks pretty new. Can someone tell me which part these symptoms point to. Thanks in advance.
Sounds like a control valve problem. This might help http://www.stangerssite.com/HowItWorksControlValve.html
It sounds like a control valve problem to me too...many years ago I had a similar problem where my Mav wanted to steer itself when you turned it in either direction. I took that thing apart and adjusted it probably 100 times. It turned out that the "new" (rebuilt) control valve I put in was no good...I eventually replaced it with a different one and all was well.
