Theres a manual steering Maverick in junk yard here, and I want to convert my power steering car to manual steering. So.. what parts do I need to strip off off the manual steer car? Are any power steering parts reusable?

71gold meant center link/pitman arm.Steering box and colum are the same.Chuck the pump, ram and brackets in a box.Dont toss em,if you dont like manual steering you can allways switch back.If not sell the stuff someone will buy it(especially some one here)

The power steering box has a diffrent gear ratio and will make the car a little harder to steer in parking lots and what not. I have never found it enough to be a problem though.

alright cool .. i thought there would be more differences

now i can get rid of that dang power steering drop bracket, although its gonna require a torch because i welded it on with extra gussets after it broke and tore out the nuts in the frame and bent the steering ram.. good thing i was manuvering into the garage when it gave out or it woulda been bad.

I read that the power box has a quicker ratio.. correct? I don't mind needing to crank on the wheel in parking lots

Correct. The extra effort is really barely noticeable though. It's not bad at all.

We were both right 71gold. It is also referred to as "center link".:bouncy: I wasnt trying to step on your toes, just helping to make sure we give accurate info to those who ask.Terminoligy can sometimes be confusing.I consider the "Strut rods" on our cars as "drag links" Once again both terms are correct. It can be confusing though, dont you think??
