I tried to use the oilpan for my motor in my car and it wont fit. The girdle is messing that all up, removing the girdle is not an option. So, I will have to modify the stock 5.0l pan that came with the engine when i got it. I know that the stock pan will clear the girdle but i will have to make it clear the steering gear can anyone help me with measurements or if done b4
do you have a front sump if stock 5.0L pan its probely dual sump you just need a front sump P.S. TALK TO ANDYSUTT HE HAS A DEEP SUMP 302 PAN if you need a front sump
I've fought that battle and lost it (also). I tried everything to get a rear-sump pan that would hold an adequate amount of oil behind the steering linkages - no such luck. Like the rest of the guys, I had to go with a deep FRONT sump. There's one up for sale in the classifieds now. http://mmb.maverick.to/showthread.php?t=31958&highlight=oil+pan There's also ebay:http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/FORD...013QQitemZ230116846641QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW comes with the oil pickup. Although they're a major PITA when r/r'ing the engine, it's the next best thing to a rear sump.
I'm going thru the same problem with a main girdled 331. I bought a pan off ebay and it should be in next week. I'll let you know if it fits. Mine was contacting on the two rear main studs. The pan I bought has a "kicked out" section at this point where the stock pan doesn't. If you want to spend the bucks, Canton makes a pan that for sure fits with a girdle but it's a $300 pan. The one i bought was $90 with the shipping.
