I under stand that the 1970 to 1973 are cast and 1974 to 1977 are plastic. and was told the extension are shorter! does that mean you would need a early deck lid, I thought the deck lids were the same. what all do you have to change for a bumber swap my car is a 1974 comet gt? thanks

The plastic ones are longer because the bumper is flat. The early bumpers curve up at the ends. They all take the same trunk lid. There is all kinds of how to articles here, but basically you need a bumper & mounting brackets, valance panel, end caps, the little fillers that go under the end caps, and 2 trunk reinforcement brackets. The brackets can be bought from a Mustang supply house. They are the same.
