Hey everyone, long time no post. After getting my commercial pilots licence (woo hoo!) I've decided it is time to blow the dust off the ol mav and make her run nice again. :bananaman

I currently have a stock ignition system on a I6 200 . I ordered a Pertronix electronic ignition system and a pertronix flame thrower coil. The problem is that I got the 1.5 ohm coil instead of the 3.0 ohm coil :naughty:.

I had no idea which one to buy online and now that the box is here it says on the side '1.5 ohm coils suitable for 8 cylinder engines; use 3.0 ohm coils for 6 and 4 cylinder engines except for racing applications, where 1.5 ohm coils may be used.'

How big of a no-no is this on a mostly stock engine? If I were to just hook it up it would probobly fry my system wouldn't it?

The module and the coil need to be matched or the module will overheat and die. You can run the 3 ohm coil with the V8 module but not the 1.5 ohm coil with the I6 module. The lower resistance allows too much current flow and overheats the module.
