Heard they are quite good. Griffin, Howe, and even the Summit store brand are all good. You'll need to do some bending/fabricating/tweaking, but they will generally fit in there ok. And remember most of the universal types don't have auto tranny coolers so you'll have to add an external cooler (unless you have a manual set up).
I'm running the stock 3 core "AC" radiator and it's just barely enough so I'm also thinking about an upgrade.

I have a Griffin but its not the universial type. Its a direct replacement. Plus its not a crossflow. I never understood how the crossflow design could work better than the vertical design. As far as Griffin products, no complaints here.

    Hey Neal,

I just got a new AFCO radiator last week if you want to take a look at it. It's still in the box! It looks like it is going to fit pretty well. I paid $212 for it total with a high pressure cap. Drove up there and picked it up myself. Looks pretty good. It was as cheap or cheaper than a heavy duty-type radiator from Autozone or Advance, so I just got an aluminum one instead. Plus, last night, my brother was over so we could bend a roll-bar for one of his cars, and he spotted a electric fan/shroud sitting on one of my shelfs that I had not looked at in a while. It fits the radiator perfectly! I guess I'm going to use it and see how it does.

    Later,

I think it is more a matter of being able to get a larger core size while keeping a low hood line.

Cross flow doesn't get hotspots as bad as vertical flow. The driver's side is usually cooler on my radiator than the rest of it. And no, its not stopped up.
