Hi! I bought Caltracks, Calvert Monoleaf springs, now i want new rear shocks.
Is there a rear adjustable shock that will bolt to the stock mounts for 1970 Maverick???

I have the adjustable shocks on the front and a set of regular shocks on the rear. I looked in the summit catalog and they don't list anything specific to a maverick that is adjustable. Not sure why you would want an adjustable shock on the rear unless you were going to road race. then I would think you'd probably be changing a lot of other things also. I'm sure there are some made but you'd probably have to modify the mounts. Here's the link to Summit if you need it. http://www.summitracing.com/ :)

QA1 makes a great shock for a maverick its just not listed in summit or jegs. give them a call. i have a friend with a set of 12 way adjustables on his maverick. dont buy the comp engineering shocks they're not much better than stock. adjustable shocks on the rear are important if you need to change setup for changing track conditions. they are just as important as the front!

Somehow i Doubt they would make that much of a difference on a fairly stock suspension car. Especially for the price. I don't think i've seen the QA shocks for under $139 each.:)

I don't know about that.....I think alot depends on how much power the car is making and what size tire is involved (as well as alot of other things). I really liked my Qa1 shocks on the back of my "stock suspension" car. However, my new Afco Double Adjustable shocks put the old Qa1's to shame. My opinion is the qa1's have too drastic of a valve change from "click to click". I think they are more in tune with a road race car. The afco's are more in tune with a drag car.

Yep, for road racing, they are great but for drag racing really can't understand why anyone with large CI engine and power additives, would even want to use a stock suspension. The limited tire width and just plain lack of instant center adjustment, would actually be a little on the unsafe side. Coil over and adjustable control arms, seem to be the preferded set up around here. Even in 10.5 class running low 4's and 140+ mph. My Fairmont has Maverick leaf rear suspension and a pair of 50/50 rear shocks that have been on there for years. Never thought of using anything else and seem's to work for me. Running low 6's at 101 mph(1/8th) is pushing the window of safety on 9in mickeys. Not enough clearance for a bigger tire and not enough money to back half it now. May go back to the original suspension and do the coil over and adjustable control arms. Then again at my age, might just say "aint a gonna do it" and turn the seat over to a younger gear head.

Todays "stock suspension" drag racers are proving that you don't need a 4-link or ladder bars to go fast on a small tire. ALOT of stock suspension mustangs and leaf spring cars are in the low 5's and high 4's with stock suspension on true 10" tires. Some of them are on drag radials.

They were custom mounted so I just used the part # that fit my application. Also, I would talk to QA1 about your specific application and see what they say.
