rear end question

    1977 maverick w/ 302 V-8
    I have a 1977 302 v8 in my car and I was under the impression that it had a 2.79 rear end, but now, I am starting to doubt it. Does anyone know what the code is for the 2.79? Did most v8s come with a 3.00 rear end? Also if it helps, I have a five lug set up. Thank you very much.

    73 LDO, 72 Sprint, 70 Grabber.
    Since it is a V8, you should have a 3.00:1 rear. The codes for you year are: 3 for 2.79; and 6 for 3.00. All other years except 70 share these codes as well.
