Well, I hated to pull the rug out from under The Maverick Connection and a few others but I think I wanted those rear louvers worse than him. I was just the successful high bidder on a very nice set of the rare louvers that get mentioned here every now and then. Seeing how I'm Shelbyizing my latest Maverick project I figured I might as well go for it. I was really surprised they didn't go higher than they did though...got them for $203. I should be able to start posting pics in the near future as I plan on having this car ready within the next three months. :bananaman

Bidding against co-enthusiasts might feel like a double-edged sword, but in general, I believe most understand.

I think that they did not draw much attention because of the rotten way the seller listed his ad. Anyone that saw the auction title, really had no way of knowing what was being sold unless they clicked on the auction to see what was there.

I agree, bid what you are willing to pay and if you win it, be happy, if you lose, you will find another one someday and bid more next time.

When you get them, how about posting some details on size and fit. They still make louvers for other cars. Maybe with the dimensions in hand the company that makes them could recommend a suitable fit from what they make now.

I was gonna bid on them was well - they were in my Watch List... They sounded great in the description but had no picture in the auction. With that auction title I figured the bids might stay low but I guess not. What sucks is that JC-Whitney used to sell these things within the last five years ... Maybe they have some stuck in a warehouse corner somewhere? :) As far as fit from another vehicle .. I notice the Maverick rear Louvers have one less Louver on the bottom than other cars. Makes them not look as good on the car but is required to allow the trunk lid to fully open ....

I just got off the phone with JC Whitney's special order department. They do not have any old stock listings for a MavCo, BUT - he did give me the louver manufacturers information and said with the rear window dimensions, they should be able to match it up to other models that they make.

    Company is in CANADA

I agree...not a very good listing. The thing I liked about the listing "WAS" the fact that they didn't get as much attention since I was planning on bidding on them. However they did still get quite a few bids from several different bidders. I also asked for a photo of them before I bid which I did get. I just don't understand why he didn't have the photo on the ad but again I think it worked to my advantage. Anyway, Chuck at the Maverick Connection is a nice guy and an avid eBayer himself so he knows what it's all about. It's not the first time we have both bid on the same parts and he's got me a time or two also. When I get them I'll give the details about them.

Like I always say, "you gotta want it more than me". I was watching them just to see how high they would go. I believe the last set went for over $700. Personelly I dont like them even on the Mach 1 mustangs, But if nobody else was gonna bid, I would have picked them up just to resale. I'm glad they will get used.

And I'm not even sure if I'm going to like them or not either. Here's the thing though, I own a Grabber Blue 70 Boss 302 Mustang which has the louvers and this 71 Grabber I am building will also be Grabber Blue so I think they would look neat sitting together, both with louvers. Now I just have to get off my a** and finish my Boss 302 after I finish this Maverick project. The Boss is gonna take a lot of money so it's on the back burner.

I have agree about not posting the picture on the auction. I had seen them also, but was leary of bidding on something that I had seen. Glad to see someone one here will put them to good use. :)

No offense to anyone, but I personally think that louvers on Mavericks/Comets look really terrible. The car looks much better with just some medium-dark (like 20%) window tint. I like them on the '70-'71 Torino GTs though. Just my opinion...

I guess the one thing that I don't like myself about them, and it has already been mentioned is how it doesn't cover the bottom part of the window. I will be honest, I didn't realize it was because of the trunk lid interference, but it has an unfinished looked to it, like it doesn't fit right.
