recoverin door panels

    has anyone recoverd their panels? what type of glue did you use any help on this would be very helpful i have vinal and the board just looking for something simple for now

    They make a spray adhesive and a brush/roll on adhesive. I would say depnding on how strong you want it to hold. Seems that the brush on kind would be strongest. I used it once on a headliner and it worked great. You apply to both pieces then mate them. You want to be sure you apply the vinyl where you want because it won't move once placed together. I have wanted to do my own panels but I like stitching and I can't do that. If you want a cushy or pillowie effect try using a thin layer of rolled sponge. They sell it in different thickness at a cloth supply maybe even at Walmart.

    I wanted wooden panels but my originals are too nice to replace.

    I made new panels out of tempered wall board (it's moisture-proof), used the original panels as templates. Then covered them with black velour to match my aftermarket seats. Velour and padding came from a fabric shop and attached with 3M spray contact cement. The panels are held to the doors with velcro.
